Board Meeting Minutes
Tuesday, March 11, 2003 6:06 p.m.

Secretary Macken called the meeting to order @ 6:06 p.m.

Present: Jill Reiter, Jan Capelle, VJ Thiesse, Tom Keller, Joe Jennison, Becky Macken, Maria Irish, Daren Walk, Angie Lehnertz, Joey Rollie-Brehmer

Excused Absence: Nate Bell, Mike Macken, Terri Pickett

Unexcused: Bob Adams

Secretary's Report: The minutes from the special General Membership Meeting of Feb 3, 2003 were unanimously approved.

Treasurer's Report: General account balance: $38,048.78, and concession account $293.34, both approved unanimously.

Both accounts were approved unanimously.

Old Business:

For personal reasons, Brad Trahan has resigned his position as president on the RSA board. Becky Macken requests to fill faithfully fill the presidential vacancy. Approved unanimously

The Wall of Fame is in its final stages. We need footings by May 1, 2003. Maria will work on this as weather permits, and in addition, the block for the concession and portable toilets will be done too.

The Website: www.rsasoftball.com up and running. Please submit newsworthy items and ideas to Daren.

The RSA Rundown will be distributed at the schedule pick up on April 14 and will be available by May 5th on Communication Tri-Pod. Please submit articles to Becky.

Remember to put August 23-24 on your calendars, and we will host the Men¹s EE South State Tournament at McQuillan Fields.

Jan will be in charge of getting new RSA collared shirts for the officers and directors.

Item of interest for capital improvements are: yellow fence guards, remodeling the old shack to provide a tournament/umpire headquarters and bleacher pads.

Becky submitted the summary of league fees from other communities. Note attachment.

The Boys/Girls Slowpitch League for the high schools will be addressed when winter sports end (per Steve Browning).

New Business:

Tom Wampach will join the RSA board as an At-Large Director. Welcome Tom!

April 14 Schedule Pick-up at Graham Area 5-6:30 p.m. Becky will have new classification structure ready for all teams.

Appreciation Week will be June 16-20th. Becky will order coolies. There was a discussion of having a Wall of Fame Dedication on Wednesday night, complete with all Hall of Fame Inductees and Champions. Suggestion was to have Ray Sibley unveil and christen the monument. Please bring ideas for this weeklong event to the April 14 schedule pick-up.

Men's Eagle's National Tournament to be held Labor Day Weekend at McQuillan.

Expect some budget cuts via the Park & Rec. for the 2004 season. Steve Browning mentioned that perhaps a $10k cut could be in the future, and a suggestion was to have teams provide their own softballs. The RSA board agreed that we would rather see an increase in fees or we would supplement the deficit.

The softballs that are going to be used this year will be yellow optic. Men¹s and Women¹s balls will be 0.440 core with compression at 0.3750

Joe Jennison will be accepting personal donations on behalf of Brad Trahan son, Reece who has been diagnosed with autism. All those interested in donating please do so on April 14.
